The AOA and AOSA annually recognize members for their exemplary service in the optometric profession. During this kickoff event, members will be honored with the awards of Optometrist of the Year, Young Optometrist of the Year, Paraoptometric of the Year, Educator of the Year, Student of the Year and Distinguished Service for their significant contributions to the profession and their communities. Please note: Attendees must attend the Opening Night Awards Ceremony to gain a wristband for transportation and admittance to the Opening Night at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago.

Link up with your colleagues and embrace your inner scientist at this year’s kickoff event at the extraordinary Museum of Science and Industry Chicago. The largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere stuns in the only remaining building from the 1893 World’s Fair. Explore a World War II submarine or marvel up close at a 40-foot tornado over cocktails and hors d'oeuvres—all while making memorable connections with industry peers. Students are invited to join us for the first AOSA welcome mixer to kick off their experience at Optometry’s Meeting! Come meet other optometry students from across the country, build camaraderie and enjoy some live entertainment, food and refreshments.
The AOA+ Leadership Society is a program for students who want to build leadership skills, advance their careers through networking, personal and professional development and gain specialized education outside of the classroom.
Students completing the requirements will earn a certificate of completion, AOA+ Leadership Society lapel pin and national recognition from the AOA.

College rivalries take center stage as optometry schools battle to be the smartest, loudest, and most creative in the thirty first AOSA Optometry Student Bowl, powered by EssilorLuxottica, held at Radius Chicago. The high-speed, high-stakes test of optometric knowledge pits one champion from each school against all others. Grab your friends and come cheer on your school!

This can't miss student night out is always one to remember! Come network, see friends from across the country and celebrate the amazing profession that is optometry!
Calling all students, residents and new doctors! This is your chance to network with doctors of optometry who have been exactly where you are today. Do you have questions about taking that first step once out of school? Sign up to attend an AOA+ Leadership Link session and you will have the opportunity to sit in a small group setting and have those questions answered by seasoned doctors of optometry. And even better, breakfast will be served! Seating is limited and pre-registration is required.
Designed for students and new doctors, AOA+ Pop-Ups are fast-paced, diverse and engaging education sessions. Topics span from becoming an advocate for your profession, practice management, conquering student debt, and interactive workshops.
Pop-up sessions will take place throughout Optometry’s Meeting on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Thursday’s pop-up sessions will feature a specialty track designed to empower the next generation of optometry leaders to gain the skills needed for success in the business of optometric practice. Participants of Thursday’s pop-up sessions will gain knowledge of financial principles, how to navigate contracting, coding and billing basics, how to best consider various career paths within the optometry profession and more! Participants will also be invited to an exclusive networking opportunity during Optometry’s Meeting.

Interested in learning more about residencies and what is the right fit for you? Want to connect with leaders from the state you plan to practice in? The Residency and State Affiliate Summit delivers all the opportunities to visit with residency directors as well as meet leaders from state associations and affiliates to learn about countless opportunities. Make sure to complete your passport card by visiting with a minimum of two state associations or affiliates and two residency directors to receive a Starbucks gift card.

Optometry's Meeting offers a renowned Exhibit Hall, featuring industry leaders and vendors that can help give you a leg up in practice. Take a break from your CE schedule and join us in the Hall to visit with our exhibitors and sponsors, find business and practice solutions, and grow your networking connections. Or consider attending the Education Theater in the Exhibit Hall with at least five courses covering a variety of subjects. Come see what all the buzz is about in the Exhibit Hall.

Course: Lakefront Trail
The AOA Foundation is bringing its annual run/walk to Chicago! This year, we have added a 1-mile option if you want to participate but don’t want to commit to a full 5K. We hope you will join us for either a 3.1-mile or 1-mile run/walk on Saturday, June 18, at 6 a.m. An entry fee of $30 guarantees you a performance-blend T-shirt and medal. Awards will be presented to top age-division finishers and overall winners.
Check-in at the packet pickup on Friday, June 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., for your swag. Sign up for the run/walk when you register to attend Optometry’s Meeting.
You also can sign up to “count sheep instead of steps” if you want to make a $30 donation to Optometry Cares, get a T-shirt with the race packet swag but sleep in on race day.

Join your colleagues on the McCormick Place Lakeside Fountain Terrace overlooking Lake Michigan to recognize the 2021-2022 AOA and AOSA Boards of Trustees.
