Will I receive credit for virtual/hybrid participation at the meeting?
Yes. Optometry's Meeting attendees who participate in the hybrid education available at this year's meeting-the courses available under Room 1 on the CE schedule-will receive AOA Credit upon completion unless otherwise designated. AOA credit satisfies most state boards' continuing education requirements and is respected by many organizations within the practice of optometry; however, it is advised that attendees verify their state board requirements prior to selecting courses to attend. Please bear in mind that all hybrid education courses will be broadcast according to the Mountain Time Zone.
Do I need to register for individual CE courses?
Yes. To adhere to state and local public health orders regarding COVID-19 and room capacity restrictions, Optometry's Meeting attendees will need to pre-select the individual education courses they intend to be present for, including any hybrid education courses. This pre-selection can be done upon registration.
What steps will AOA take to ensure the meeting is safe?
After an extensive review of potential venues, the Colorado Convention Center was selected by the AOA because Denver has safely reopened according to their health and safety protocols. The convention center not only obtained a 5-Star Certification by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment for safety measures that exceed state and local public health orders but also received distinctions from ASM Global and GBAC STARTM, the cleaning industry's only outbreak prevention, response and recovery accreditation for facilities. Optometry's Meeting will employ hand sanitizing throughout the event space, and asks that attendees follow a routine hand hygiene regimen, adhere to social distancing recommendations and wear a suitable face covering while in attendance. Additionally, Optometry's Meeting will utilize self-scanning to allow for badge scanning via free-standing detectors, and the meeting will follow all guidelines set forth by state and local health departments, as well as those required of the Colorado Convention Center.
Will COVID-19 protocols be followed for breakfast or lunch symposia?
Optometry's Meeting will follow all state and local public health orders regarding COVID-19, including capacity restrictions and food safety precautions. The Colorado Convention Center is 5-Star Certified by the Colorado Department of Health & Environment, meaning the facility may operate at the 'Blue' level on the state's COVID-19 dial, as of March 26, due to enhanced health and safety measures.
What will happen to the AOA House of Delegates?
The AOA House of Delegates will proceed with the usual and customary practices expected of the AOA's governing body and typical communications, including agenda, resolutions and other information, will be communicated in the weeks ahead. Similarly, the AOA Board of Trustees election and board installation will proceed as usual.
Will there be an Exhibit Hall this year?

I am supposed to teach a course at the meeting, what do I do now?

How will this affect the AOA+ track for students?
AOA+ Leadership Link, Pop-Up sessions and the Residency and State Affiliate Summit will be offered this year. The format and size of the programs will be set up different to ensure safety protocols are being followed. You will not need to register for these programs this year. Attendance will be first come, first serve.
