The American Board of Optometry Announces Its First Annual “Learning Through Clinical Care” Student Case Challenge
Third- and fourth-year students who are involved in patient care are invited to submit a written patient case study to the American Board of Optometry (ABO). The case study should be based on a clinical case where the student has been involved in the diagnosis and/or management of the patient.
The case should be a minimum of 1,800 words, no maximum. Top consideration will be given to cases that: 1) provide new information about a treatment modality or management approach, or 2) provide a good review of current practice guidelines. The quality of writing will also be considered.
Submissions may be emailed to the American Board of Optometry at awilhelm@abopt.org between May 1 and May 31, 2024. Winners will be announced at Optometry’s Meeting 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee; you do not need to be present to win.
First place: $750 Visa gift card and the opportunity to work with ABO to publish the case as a learning module for ABO’s Maintenance of Certification program.
Runner up: $300 Visa gift card and the opportunity to work with ABO to publish the case as a learning module for ABO’s Maintenance of Certification program.
