Allergan Travel Grants

Allergan Travel Grants make travel to Optometry’s Meeting® more affordable for students from each school and college of optometry in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada. Two $500 travel grants will be awarded per school. The finalists, selected by a faculty member at each school or college, are also eligible to compete nationally for an additional $1,000 for the top three winning essays, determined by a committee established by the AOSA, on the topic: “Dry Eye: Just an Inconvenience or a Treatable Ocular Disorder?”

Allergan Travel Grant Scholarships will be presented during the AOSA Awards and General Session on Thursday, June 17, 1:00pm - 3:00pm. Students must be present to claim their scholarships.

HOYA Vision Care Student Grant and Scholarship Program

HOYA Vision Care is offering third- and fourth-year students the opportunity to win a $1,000 grant, hotel, and airfare to Optometry’s Meeting®. To be considered, students must submit a patient case study involving HOYA products to the faculty judge at their school by May 1, 2010. There will be one $1,000 winner at each school. The winning case studies will then be reviewed by HOYA’s ECP Advisory; the overall winner will receive an additional $6,000 scholarship.

AOA Video Travel Grant

You be the director! Create a video highlighting your experience at the 2010 Optometry’s Meeting® for the opportunity to win one of two $1,000 travel grants awarded to students by the AOA. All videos must be submitted to the AOA by August 31, 2010. One winner will be selected by the AOA and the other winner will be selected by an online vote of your peers. Look for more details in your on-site registration packet.

The winners will be announced in January 2011 and must attend the 2011 Optometry’s Meeting® in Salt Lake City, Utah, to receive his/her travel grant.

Varilux^® Student Grant Award Program

Third- and fourth-year optometry students were invited to submit a 2,000-word (maximum length) case report on patients fit with Varilux® lenses to the clinical staff of the applicants’ school by February 1, 2010. The student with the winning case report at each school will receive $1,000, plus entry into the national judging. The national award winner and faculty advisor will each receive an all-expense paid trip for two to Optometry’s Meeting®.

The Vision Care Institute™, LLC Travel Grants

The Vision Care Institute™, LLC Travel Grants make travel to Optometry’s Meeting® more affordable for students at each school and college of optometry in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada. Two $595 Travel Grants will be awarded per school. The finalists, selected by a faculty member at each school or college, are also eligible to compete nationally for an additional $1,000 for the best overall winning essay, determined by a committee established by the AOSA, on the topic: “How Does an Aging Population Base Affect the Way You Will Practice?”

The Vision Care Institute™, LLC Travel Grant Scholarships will be presented during course S131, Career Options Expo: “Practice Passport – Taking the Leap, Part 1” on Thursday, June 17, 3:00pm - 5:00pm. Students must be present to claim their scholarships.
