June 2008 marks the AOA’s 111th and AOSA’s 38th annual gathering. Below is a list of Seattle’s major sights, attractions, and activities to include on one’s visit to the Emerald City:

- Space Needle – Observe Seattle’s multi-faceted geography from 520 feet. The needle was built for the 1962 World’s Fair.
- Pike Place Market – Fish, flowers, and fun—the market has over 200 businesses to stroll through and enjoy. Be careful of flying fish!
- Ferry rides – Another way to enjoy Seattle’s unique geography, with views of the city, Cascade and Olympic Mountains, and the shoreline.
- Whale watching – Observe the orcas who call Puget Sound their home.
- Bill Speidel’s Underground Tour – Explore the ruins of the city of Seattle after it was engulfed in flames in 1889.
- Coffee drinking – Grab a cup of joe at one of the capital of coffee’s 628 coffee shops.
- Seattle Public Library – Book lovers and architecture buffs alike will be drawn to this award-winning building made of steel and glass.
- Tillicum Village – Take a tour of a Native American island village and learn about the ways of the Northwest’s original residents.
- Outdoor adventures – The Seattle area provides a wealth of adventuresome outdoor activities for nature enthusiasts, including hiking, whitewater rafting, scuba diving, and sea kayaking.
