The importance of thorough ocular
funduscopic examination with dilation,
utilizing the techniques of binocular
indirect ophthalmoscopy and fundus
biomicroscopy to complement non-mydriatic
new technology, cannot be
overemphasized. Following review of
these procedures, a variety of posterior
segment disorders commonly seen in
a primary care optometric practice
are discussed. Standards of care are
addressed and clinical pearls provided.
