The American Optometric Association has selected Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, and Northwest Airlines as the official airlines for Optometry’s Meeting™. Alaska Airlines

Car Rental

The American Optometric Association has arranged discounted rates with Hertz for Optometry’s Meeting™ in Seattle. The special group rates are good one week before and after the conference, so attendees can take in the sights and explore the surroundings of Seattle.

The car rental sales desks are staffed by helpful, friendly representatives who are specially trained experts at handling all your car rental needs. Please contact Hertz directly to receive your special discount.

Getting from the Airport to your Official AOA Hotel

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is the main airport serving Seattle, WA. The airport is located 14 miles from the official Optometry’s Meeting™ hotels, but can take 30-40 minutes in traffic. Taxis are available on the third floor of the parking garage; follow the red and black signs to ground transportation. Fare to the AOA official hotels will run approximately $33.

Shared ride services are available and vary with the hotel to which you are traveling.

$10.25 one-way; $17 round-trip per person.

Follow the signs to Scheduled Airporter Services at Door 00 (zero-zero). The desk is located in the atrium at the south end of baggage claim, just beyond baggage carousel #1.

Attire

The official dress for Optometry’s Meeting™ is business casual, unless otherwise noted. Optometry’s Meeting™ defines business casual dress as follows: Women – dresses, slacks, and/or skirts (jacket optional). Men – sport coat and slacks, casual shirt (golf shirt acceptable), and no tie. For the Presidential Celebration (Saturday), dress is “smart” business. Remember that the hotels and Convention Center will be well air-conditioned.

Weather

Summertime in Seattle is very pleasant, with high temperatures hovering in the low 70s and evening temperatures in the low 50s.
